ACOM 301H - Honors Ethics

This course will examine the primary philosophical questions surrounding discussions of morality. Through directly engaging primary sources in ethics, students will learn to critique and analyze a variety of ethical perspectives, thereby sharpening their own thinking in regard to ethics. During the first half of the term, the class will take a rigorous look at some of the most important texts in ethics such as those by Plato, Machiavelli, Aristotle, and Kant. The second half of the term will consist of a thorough examination of ethical dilemmas directly related to the business of fashion and the manufacturing of luxury goods. The goal of the course is for students to learn to apply abstract philosophical concepts to the everyday workplace dilemmas they may encounter in their chosen careers. Students will demonstrate their development of an ethical perspective through evidence of advanced writing skills and serious critical thinking.
