LIM College Scholarships and Grants: Non-Need-Based
AWARDS   ELIGIBILITY FOR CONSIDERATION   AMOUNT PER YEAR AND RESPONSIBILITY   PROCEDURES FOR 2014-2015
Academic Achievement Scholarship   High school students with a B average (85) or higher and SAT scores of 900 and above entering as first-time freshmen. College transfer students with at least 21 credits and a B average.  

Awards of $1,000 - $6,500 based on GPA and SAT scores. Renewable based on maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Based on availability.

  Transcripts are evaluated after acceptance to LIM College.
Adrian G. Marcuse Presidential Scholarship   A student who entered the College as a first-year, first-semester freshman and is now entering his or her senior year beginning the fall semester. Based on merit and exceptional academic credentials (GPA of 3.50 or above).   One full-tuition scholarship to a student entering his or her senior year   Submit the application by May 21, 2014. No FAFSA necessary. Final candidates will be interviewed by the college president.
Alan Feigenbaum Scholarship
Established in honor of the late LIM College Mathematics Professor Alan Feigenbaum
  Current LIM College student entering the third year with a cumulative 3.00 GPA or better. Must have completed first two years at LIM College including both College Algebra and Statistics with a B or better. Financial need not a requirement.   Award of $2,500 per year. Student must maintain cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher for renewal consideration.   Submit a separate 500-
word essay on “The Creative Application of
Mathematics” in Management, Marketing, Merchandising or Visual
Merchandising along with your scholarship application by March 31, 2014. No FAFSA necessary.
Leah Ryan Scholarship
Established in honor of the late Professor Ryan for her devotion to teaching LIM College students who struggle to write well and persist in doing so
  Current LIM College student with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher. Must have passed Writing Essentials and earned a B or better in English Composition I.   Two awards of $1,500 each   Submit a separate creative 500-word essay that discusses a physical job, an art, or a hobby that you are working to master along with your scholarship application by March 31, 2014. No FAFSA necessary.
LIM Academic Scholarship   Current LIM College student who has completed 30 credits and has a 3.80 or higher GPA.   $1,500 per year. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher.   Submit scholarship application by March 31, 2014. No FAFSA necessary.
LIM Business Leadership Scholarship   Entering freshmen and transfer students who are active members of DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, or SIFE. Minimum GPA of 3.00 for consideration.   Awards of $3,000 per year. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher for renewal.   Letter of recommendation from appropriate club advisor. Submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014. No FAFSA necessary.
LIM/New York BOCES Scholarship   High school students who have graduated from a New York State BOCES Fashion Merchandising program with an 80 average (3.00) or higher in the fashion program.   Limited number of awards of $3,000 per year. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.   Submit scholarship application by March 25, 2014 at 5 p.m. EST.
No FAFSA necessary
LIM College Sibling Tuition Award   Siblings who are concurrently enrolled at LIM College or a student who has a sibling who previously attended LIM College and graduated.   25% of tuition charges, not to exceed the full cost of tuition in conjunction with all other tuition-specific awards. This award is only available to matriculated undergraduate students enrolled either full-time or part-time with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and in good academic standing.   Complete the LIM College Sibling Award Application in the Office of Student Financial Services to establish eligibility by no later than the eighth week of the semester.
LIM Transfer Grant   Incoming graduates of a two-year college with an associate degree and a GPA of 2.75 or higher.   Award of $5,000 per year, up to two years. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.   Transcripts are evaluated after acceptance to LIM College.
LIM Visual Merchandising Scholarship   Entering students who have declared a Visual Merchandising (VM) major.   Limited number of awards of $1,000 each. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 and enrollment as a VM major.   Submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014. No FAFSA necessary.
LIM Fashion Scholars Program - Honors Scholarship   Incoming freshmen with an average of 90 or higher and an SAT score of 1150 or above will be considered on a competitive basis.   By invitation and acceptance to LIM Fashion Scholars Program. Awards of $6,000 to half-tuition per year. Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.   Transcripts are evaluated after acceptance to LIM College.
* For the purpose of academic scholarships, Critical Reading and Math SAT scores will be combined.
 
 
LIM College Scholarships and Grants: Need-Based

Alexandra S. Potts Memorial Scholarship   Entering freshmen. Need and ability.   One award of $1,000   FAFSA required.
Display & Design Ideas Magazine’s Visual Merchandising Scholarship   Current LIM College student who has completed first year of Introduction to Visual Merchandising with a high grade point average. Student must show an above average amount of talent and have an interest in pursuing a retail career as a visual merchandiser. Need also a factor.   One award of $2,000   FAFSA required. Submit scholarship application by March 31, 2014.
Essence Magazine Scholarship   Incoming freshman who is African-American or African- Caribbean. Need and ability.   One award of $2,000   FAFSA required.
LIM/Community College Scholarship
Brookdale-NJ, Middlesex-NJ, Ocean-NJ, Genesee-NY, Kingsborough-NY, Nassau-NY, Suffolk-NY, Westchester-NY
  Incoming graduates of the listed community colleges with an associate degree. Based on merit, exceptional academic credentials (GPA of 3.30 or higher), and need.   One renewable award of half tuition per community college for eligible students. Must maintain cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.   FAFSA required. Eligible accepted students will receive scholarship application. Submission deadline is May 2, 2014.
LIM/FIDM Scholarship   Incoming graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) with an associate degree. Based on merit, exceptional academic credentials (GPA of 3.30 or higher), and need.   One renewable award of half tuition. Must maintain cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher.   FAFSA required. Eligible accepted students will receive scholarship application. Submission deadline is May 2, 2014.
Maxwell F. Marcuse Founder’s Scholarship   Current LIM College student who has completed at least 30 credits with at least a B average. Need and ability.   One award of half tuition. Maintain satisfactory academic progress.   FAFSA required. Submit scholarship application by April 7, 2014.
Mildred Marcuse Scholarship  

Entering associate degree candidate with at least a B average in high school. Need and ability.

  One award of half tuition per year. Maintain satisfactory academic progress.   FAFSA required. Submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014.

Ron Knoth Scholarship
Established in honor of the late Professor Knoth for his creativity, uniqueness, and kind, unassuming devotion to LIM College students.

 

Current LIM College student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher who has completed Fashion Fundamentals with a “B” or better. Need is also a factor.

 

One award of $1,500 per year.

 

FAFSA required. Submit an image and a 500-word essay on what the image means to you. You can create the image or include a copy of an image from a book, magazine, or any other resource. Submit scholarship application by April 4, 2014.

Mario Abela Scholarship      Established in honor of long-time staff member Mr. Abela for his over 35 years of service to the College and our students.

  Current LIM College Student who is the first in their family to attend college and was born (or has a parent who was born) outside of the U.S. Must also have worked while in high school and is continuing to work part-time while enrolled at LIM College to help with their educational expenses. Need and ability.   One award of $1,500 per year. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at LIM College after having attended at least two semesters and no Math grade below a B.   FAFSA required.  Submit scholarship application by April 4, 2014.  Submit a separate essay which should discuss work history and financial need to continue working.
             
LIM Fashion Education Foundation Scholarships: Non-Need-Based

LIM Alumni Association Scholarship   Current LIM College student going into the third year, 3.00 GPA or higher. Student has to have had completed the first two years at LIM College.   One award of $1,000   Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014.  No FAFSA necessary.
LIM FEF Honorees Scholarship   All entering students and continuing LIM College students eligible to apply. Based on high academic achievement, a GPA of 3.50 - 3.79, and good character.   Several partial tuition grants. Variable amounts from $1,000 to $2,000.   New students submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014.  Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014.  No FAFSA necessary.
LIM Fashion Education Foundation Scholarship   New and continuing students entering third year. Based on high academic achievement, a GPA of 3.50 - 3.79, and good character.   Limited number of partial tuition grants. Variable amounts from $1,000 to $2,000.   New students submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014.  Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014.  No FAFSA necessary.
Milton and Patricia Samuels Award   Current LIM College student entering third year. Based on academic achievement, 3.00 GPA or higher, and good character.   One award of $1,000   Submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014. No FAFSA necessary.
Leonard Nadel Scholarship   Current LIM College student entering second year. Based on excellence in academic work, a GPA of 3.80 - 4.00, outstanding creativity, and high capacity for contribution to the fashion industry.   One award of $2,000 awarded for sophomore, junior, and senior years. Maintain satisfactory academic progress.   Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014.  No FAFSA necessary.
Robert Bryan Achievement Scholarship   Current LIM College student enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s degree program who has completed 30 credits and has a 3.75 or higher cumulative GPA.   One award of $2,500 per year. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.   Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014. No FAFSA necessary.
Stan Gellers Scholarship   Entering junior with an associate degree from a two-year college with a GPA of 3.00 or higher.   One award of $2,000. Based on merit and exceptional academic credentials (GPA of 3.50 or higher).   New students submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014.  No FAFSA necessary.
 
 
LIM Fashion Education Foundation Scholarships: Need-Based

Alan S. Scheiber Memorial Scholarship   Current LIM College student entering third year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Need and ability.   One award of $1,000 per year   FAFSA required. Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014.
Freshman Scholarship   Incoming freshman with a minimum B+ average. Need and ability.   One award of $2,000   FAFSA required. New students submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014.
Helen Galland Scholarship   Entering freshman or transfer Management or Marketing major with a minimum 3.30 (B+) cumulative GPA. Need and ability.   One award of $750   FAFSA required. New students submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014.
John Robert Randall Memorial Scholarship
Funded by: Edythe P. Randall, Robin R. Lallanzio, Shann E. Andolina, John R. Randall, Judith M. Randall
  Current LIM College student entering junior year with a 3.00 or better cumulative GPA. Need is a factor.   One award of $1,000   FAFSA required. Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014.
LaVelle Olexa Scholarship
Established in honor of Lord & Taylor’s former Senior Vice President of Advertising, Sales Promotion, and Public Relations for her many contributions to the fashion industry
  Entering transfer sophomore or current LIM College student entering sophomore year with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50. Need and ability.   Two awards of $1,500 each   FAFSA required. New students submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014.  Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014.
LIM Alumni/Foundation Scholarship   Entering transfer sophomore or current LIM College student entering sophomore year with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30. Alumni relation a plus. Need and ability.   One award of $1,500   FAFSA required.  New students submit scholarship application by March 3, 2014.  Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014.
Patty Farmer Scholarship   Award to current LIM College students entering second or third year with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Need and ability.   Awards of $2,500 each. Must maintain cumulative GPA of 3.50 for renewal consideration.   FAFSA required. Continuing students submit scholarship application by March 14, 2014.

Please note that, unless otherwise specified, LIM College scholarships may only be applied to the full-time flat rate tuition for the fall and spring semesters at LIM College. All scholarships are awarded on a funds-available basis and LIM College reserves the right to make adjustments to these awards. Note that one supplemental scholarship is offered per recipient.
