FASH 420 - Senior Capstone - Fashion Merchandising


The capstone project requires the application, analysis, and synthesis of the fashion curriculum to create and analyze the assortment planning process in a fashion business. Students will follow standard industry processes including analysis of the consumer, product ideation, product development, global sourcing strategies, and costing, among other key issues relevant to the fashion industry assortment planning process. Projects can be based on womenswear, menswear, children’s wear, accessories, as well as home fashions. Drawing upon classroom experience, industry knowledge and individual work experience, students will collaborate on a group project to develop a sound assortment plan (including financials) for a new fashion line. Student teams will create a comprehensive paper covering the topics in the course outline. The final phase will require students to make a formal presentation of the work they have developed during the course of the semester.

Prerequisite: FASH 105 or FASH 105H, FASH 233, FASH 270, FASH 290, FASH 315, FASH 321
Corequisite: FASH 421, SENR 401B
