The Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management program provides a focused education, integrating knowledge of buying and retail math, retail technologies, product sourcing, merchandise planning, retail operations, and merchandising strategies. Students will develop skills necessary for effectively analyzing consumer demands, sourcing products, developing retail plans, and translating insights into successful fashion retail strategies. All students complete a core curriculum consisting of 12 credits and then declare a specialization (as available depending on which campus student is enrolled).

Specialization in Buying and Operations Management
12 Credits
The specialization in Buying and Operations Management will provide students with practical skills in areas such as product selection, inventory management, store management, pricing, and promotion. Buying and operations are critical functions in the fashion industry, and graduates with specialized knowledge in these areas are better equipped to succeed in their careers. This specialization can be completed in the face-to-face modality.
Specialization in Fashion and Lifestyle
12 Credits
The fashion industry requires both creative and strategic thinking, and students with a specialization in Fashion and Lifestyle can develop a unique skillset that combines both. LIM’s concentration in Fashion and Lifestyle will help students gain a more holistic understanding of business functions. This specialization can be completed in the face-to-face and online modalities.
Specialization in Product Development and Sourcing
12 Credits
The specialization in Product Development and Sourcing will provide students with practical skills in areas such as vendor management, textile sciences, trend analysis, quality management, and negotiation. Product development and sourcing are key functions in the fashion industry, and graduates with specialized knowledge in these areas are better equipped to succeed in their careers. This specialization can be completed in the face-to-face modality.
Specialization in Sustainability in Fashion
12 Credits
The fashion industry is increasingly focused on sustainability as well as ethical and inclusive practices, and companies are looking for graduates who have knowledge and skills in these areas. Sustainability is driving innovation in the fashion industry, with new materials, production methods, and business models emerging. Graduates with a specialization in Sustainability in Fashion can help drive these innovations and contribute to a more sustainable and responsible industry. This specialization can be completed in the face-to-face modality.

For MS or MPS degree students, a minimum of 24 credits must be completed at LIM College.
Career Success Track
The Graduate Studies Program* offers a Career Success Track that consists of three required career internship or seminar courses across three consecutive semesters.
