BUSN 2651 - Fashion Retail Management

This course examines retail operations and strategies, including the history of retailing, contemporary retailing strategies for consumption, merchandise mix and selection processes, product assortment analysis, retail store and space allocation for product assortments, and current retail operations in the global marketplace. It provides an understanding of retail merchandising in the U.S. and of how companies have expanded globally as well as online. In addition, students will examine how non-U.S. retailers have influenced Americans’ ideas about consumption. This course examines contemporary retailing principles and practices from a global and Omni-channel perspective. Particular emphasis will be placed on the distinctions between various types of retailers and distribution channels, what companies must do to succeed globally and how the customer experience has come to define modern retail brands.
