COMM 2328H - Honors New Media: Writing, Editing, VisualsArts & Sciences Department This course will prepare students to work as writers, editors, creative directors and production managers in digital media companies. Students will examine the role of media in contemporary life and develop the skills needed to work as media professionals, including news reporting and writing, appropriate use of photography and video, and utilization of a CMS to build and publish online content. After an investigation of key media theorists and exploration of how media technology is integrated into our daily lives, the course will focus on training students to write and edit like journalists. Students will produce three publishable articles that are carefully researched and edited, include visual and/or video supplements, and are laid out as they would be in a digital publication. credit(s): 3 Prerequisite(s): ENGL 1100 and enrollment in the Fashion Scholars Program, or by permission of the Department Chair
