BUSN 2421 - Starting Your Own Business

Business Department
Learn how to take a business idea and bring it to fruition. This course takes an executional approach to starting a new venture through hands-on assignments. Students learn to vet a business idea and develop a business model before creating a launch roadmap. From there, students build their founding team, form an advisory board, determine staffing, write job descriptions, and compile important documents such as non-disclosure agreements. The course also explores strategies for getting a minimum viable product to market while building a brand identity. Startup budgets are developed to create an investor pitch deck and write a pitch. As a final step before launching, students determine legal requirements to register the business entity and formally operate.
