MNGT 2755 - Change Agents: Leaders Who Create a Just and Caring WorldBusiness Department Civic engagement consists of those behaviors, attitudes and actions that reflect membership in a community. Servant leadership is a philosophy and set of practices of leadership, whereby the leader focuses primarily on the growth and well-being of people and the communities to which they belong. Servant leaders share power, putting the needs of others first and help people develop and perform as highly as possible. This course explores the role of leadership and commitment to civic responsibility and action in a globalized world. Students analyze current societal problems, discover solutions to those problems, and convince others to become part of the solution. This class also gives students the opportunity to lead others in small group problem solving and to learn to identify problems and find ways to address them. There are opportunities to follow through on problem-solving initiatives. Students address issues related to a multicultural community. The course is taught using an experiential learning methodology that invites students to experience and reflect on real life cases. Students can participate in a service-learning international trip. credit(s): 3 Prerequisite(s): MNGT 2310
