CANN 3020 - The Retailing of Cannabis

This course will explore the retailing of cannabis, with particular emphasis on how businesses will change and transform with updates in the regulatory landscape. In the business of cannabis much of the “retail” today is centered on dispensaries. Through this course and in conjunction with industry we aim to change the terminology to retail shops, stores, and web-based outlets away from the term dispensaries. This term has more of a medical feel and the business of cannabis is being transformed into a consumer driven market with retail leading the way. Students will be introduced to traditional retailing functions, including merchandise management, store layout and the importance of the supply chain with a special emphasis on the importance of retail in the success of cannabis companies.
