Academic Dismissal

At the end of each semester the records of all students are reviewed. A student placed on academic probation  must satisfy the terms of their academic probation plan to avoid academic dismissal from the College. In addition, certain Student Code of Conduct  violations will lead to academic dismissal.

If a student has been academically dismissed from the College as a result of losing good academic standing, the student may petition to return for a conditional probationary semester by submitting a written appeal to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. In the event the petition is accepted, the student may continue at LIM on conditional academic probation pursuant to guidelines set forth in the petition acceptance agreement. These guidelines may include, but are not limited to: limited course loads, mandated academic support services, achieving minimum GPA and earned credit requirements, and other restrictions as determined appropriate. To assist the student in focusing on their academic performance, participation in credited and non-credited internships as well as volunteer opportunities through the Department of Career and Internship Services may be restricted. At the end of one semester, depending upon academic performance, the student will either be permitted to continue at the College or be dismissed.
