|
Academic probation results when a student violates the Remedial Course Policy or does not meet the minimum established academic requirements listed in the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) chart below. SAP is based on the credits completed at LIM College, plus any accepted transfer credits, accumulated by the end of any given semester and the attainment of the minimum cumulative GPA (Grade Point Average) indicated below:

Academic Probation and Academic Dismissal are determined twice annually, five days after the conclusion of final exams in the fall and spring semesters. Determination is based on grades posted prior to those dates.
Academic probation is not considered punitive, rather it alerts the student of the need to put more effort into his/her work and implies that the College believes the student can perform effectively enough to achieve the necessary grades. A student placed on academic probation for two consecutive semesters must satisfy all the terms of probation by the end of the subsequent (third) semester. Any student who has not returned to good academic standing as described herein is subject to Academic Dismissal from LIM College. In an effort to help the student achieve academic success, he or she is limited to register for no more than 16 course hours per semester. Students on Academic Probation may not register for online or hybrid courses.
Any undergraduate student required to take a remedial course(s) must do so successfully by the end of the student’s fourth semester of attendance at LIM. Failure to satisfy this requirement, regardless of cumulative GPA or credits earned, will result in the student being placed on academic probation.
