2025-2026 College Catalog
Academic Dismissal
|
|
|
At the end of each semester the records of all students are reviewed. A student placed on academic probation must satisfy the terms of their academic probation plan to avoid academic dismissal from the College. Any graduate student on academic probation who earns an F or an FA while on probation will be academically dismissed. In addition, certain Student Code of Conduct violations will lead to academic dismissal.
If a student has been academically dismissed from the College as a result of losing good academic standing, the student may petition to return for a conditional probationary semester by submitting a written appeal to the Dean of Graduate Studies.
If the petition is approved, the student may continue their studies at LIM under a conditional academic probation status, with specific terms outlined in the petition acceptance agreement. These terms may include, but are not limited to:
- A reduced course load
- Mandatory participation in academic support services
- Minimum GPA and earned credit benchmarks
- Limitations on internships, volunteer opportunities, or extracurricular commitments
At the conclusion of the conditional semester, the student’s academic performance will be evaluated. Based on that review, the student will either be permitted to continue enrollment or will be permanently dismissed from the College.
Policies that can impact final course grades (up to reduction to F grades)
- Effective Fall 2024, an institutional grading policy was adopted that deducts points for deliverables not submitted by the required due date. Refer to your syllabi for exact details.
- Effective Fall 2025, a grading policy was adopted that deducts points based on unexcused absences. Refer to your syllabi for exact details.
