FASH 3518 - Non-Apparel Retailing and Buying

Study of the differences of retailing and buying for the food retailing and non-apparel sectors of the industry. Retailing principles and promotional techniques unique to non-apparel retailers; inventory planning and control, logistics, buying, pricing, visual presentation will be analyzed and discussed. The competitive marketplace will be examined as to how existing retailers are entering this sector to increase their sales. Study and analysis of the food supply chain, from “farm to fork”– its scope, links and interdependencies. The impact of the changing food supply chain on retailers and the consumer are addressed. Case studies and projects used to apply the concepts.
