Academic Probation


Academic probation results when a student violates the Remedial Course Policy  or does not meet the minimum established academic requirements listed in the Satisfactory Academic Progress chart below:

*Academic Probation and Academic Dismissal  are determined twice annually, five days after the conclusion of final exams in the fall and spring semesters. Determination is based on grades posted prior to those dates.

Academic probation is not considered punitive, rather it alerts the student of the need to put more effort into his/her work and implies that the College believes the student can perform effectively enough to achieve the necessary grades. A student remaining on academic probation for two successive terms or a total of three terms is subject to academic dismissal. In an effort to help the student achieve academic success, he or she is limited to register for no more than 16 course hours per semester.
