Fashion Media, BS

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Fashion Media trains students in critical approaches to contemporary global media, while providing a working knowledge of the tools and technologies necessary for print and digital media production.

The major prepares students for editorial careers, as well as careers in social media, marketing, video production, and communications. The curriculum provides a foundation of core courses in liberal arts and business, and includes many industry specific courses as well.

Liberal Arts Elective Courses - 12 Credits


Liberal Arts Electives are any courses numbered 1000 or higher with the following prefixes: ARTS, COMM, ECON, ENGL, HIST, LANG, NTSC, PHIL, POLS, PSYC, and SOCI which are not specifically required for the student’s major.

All courses are required except where choice is indicated.

First Year Experience or College Success for Online Students is required for all first-time freshmen or students who have transferred in less than 13 credits.

For BPS and BBA degree students, a minimum of 38 credits must be completed at LIM College.

For BS degree students, a minimum of 41 credits must be completed at LIM College.

All students are required to take EECM 1801 - Industry Exploration Seminar.

Students who do not have prior retail experience, or do not meet the qualifications listed below, are also required to complete EECM 1802 - Industry Exploration Internship prior to graduation.

Students who have 24 or more credits and at least 1,000 hours of retail experience within the past five years can take EECM 1803 - Industry Exploration Internship: Corporate or take another course to replace those credits.

Students who have at least 2,000 hours of retail experience within the past five years and less than 24 credits must take a course to replace the credits that would have been earned in EECM 1802, as they are not be eligible to take EECM 1803 until they earn at least 24 credits. 

Verifiable proof of retail experience will be required. Students must submit two of the following:

  • letter from their employer(s)
  • W2
  • pay stub
  • resume

All undergraduate students who enroll at LIM College must demonstrate their readiness to learn course material successfully. English and mathematics aptitude is assessed and students are placed in appropriate courses based upon level of aptitude*.

Students can demonstrate their readiness by:

  • Submitting ACT or SAT scores for review
  • Completing the LIM College placement test(s)
  • Submitting official transcript(s) for the evaluation of College-level English Composition and/or mathematics courses

Students will be placed based on any of the above submissions. If multiple submissions are made, LIM College will use the placement criteria that demonstrates the highest level of proficiency. Students who do not submit any of the above will automatically be placed into the lowest level of developmental coursework (Writing Essentials & Mathematics Through Business Applications).

Developmental courses do not carry credit towards the degree, but do carry hours which count towards full-time status. See Undergraduate Credits and Hours  and Remedial Course Policy  for further information. 

*Students accepted into the Fashion Scholars program are qualified out of all remedial course work.
