COMM 2603 - Global Media Arts & Sciences This course explores the phenomenon of global media as it intersects with systems of power, class, race, ethnicity and culture issues unique to individual nation-states. It explores practices (forms and genres), as well as the human issues and concerns (e.g., human rights, laws, poverty, the environment, pandemics, financial crises) that cut across them. The course will also cover the commonality of issues and the possibility for collective action in addressing them. Students will examine the role of media professionals and corporations and the influence of global media systems on the economic, political, social, and cultural contexts within which they operate. credit(s): 3 Prerequisite(s): ENGL 1100
