MNGT 2755 - Civic Engagement and Servant Leadership Marketing, Management & Finance Civic engagement consists of those behaviors, attitudes and actions that reflect membership in a community. Servant leadership is a philosophy and set of practices of leadership, whereby the leader focuses primarily on the growth and well-being of people and the communities to which they belong. Servant leaders share power, putting the needs of others first and help people develop and perform as highly as possible. This course explores the role of leadership and commitment to civic responsibility and action in a globalized world. Students will be asked to analyze current societal problems, discover solutions to those problems, and convince others to become part of the solution. This class will give students the opportunity to lead others in small group problem-solving and to learn to identify problems and find ways to address them. There will be opportunities to follow through on problem-solving initiatives and students will address issues related to a multicultural community. The course is taught using an experiential learning methodology that invites students to experience and reflect on real life cases. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a service-learning international trip. credit(s): 3 Prerequisite(s): MNGT 2310
