COMM 1110 - Public Speaking Arts & Sciences Effective communication is essential to personal, academic, and professional accomplishment. The purpose of this course is to promote a more competent and confident self-presentation by increasing the student’s ability to generate, organize and present ideas. Public speaking is based on a comprehensive foundation of skills including listening, critical thinking, academic research, audience analysis and language development, as well as nonverbal dynamics.
