ENGL 3110 - Junior Writing Topics Arts & Sciences This course is designed to further students’ writing and analytical skills and help them develop professional-level competence as writers. These skills will be developed through a combination of response or critique papers, formal papers, quizzes, in-class discussions, and peer-review sessions. Topics and issues in contemporary America are covered, including popular culture, the environment, media, and consumerism. The course places a special emphasis on using research and critical thinking — rather than predetermined ideology — when developing ideas about complex problems. Students are expected to read actively and to carefully edit their own writing with a specific focus on organizing their ideas into well-articulated, coherent arguments and cultivating a keen eye for styles and genres of writing. credit(s): 3 Prerequisite(s): COMM 1110, ENGL 0700, ENGL 1100, ENGL 1105
