MNGT 412 - Senior Management Capstone

The ability to develop a business plan is essential before starting and operating a business successfully. In this course students demonstrate prior learning obtained in management and management-related courses and through Work Project experiences, serving as consultants to an entrepreneurial fashion retailer in need of a plan for a viable, sustainable, and innovative venture. Working in teams, students describe the business, establish a management team, report the company structure, and analyze the industry and competitive landscape. A critical element of the project is the retailing strategy to be employed, including suggestions for sourcing, pricing, merchandising, and controlling inventory. Capital requirements and various financial projections are developed, and critical risk factors are highlighted for the client. The project culminates in an oral and written presentation to the client and a panel of faculty and industry representatives.
