MNGT 215 - Buying and Merchandising Math


The focus of the course is on the main functions of a Buyer and the Buyer’s job in maximizing profit. Topics of how a Buyer purchases brand name versus private label merchandise, vendor/resource negotiations, communicating and presenting the merchandise strategy to the consumer will be discussed. Students are introduced to all of the factors that Buyers need to affect profits: Profit and Loss Statements, pricing - initial pricing and markdowns, and planning sales are discussed. Critical thinking is necessary to learn how to achieve the maximum profit for the company.
