WORK 125 - Industry Exploration Portfolio

This is a self-study course focused developing the student’s professional portfolio through experiential activities, reporting, and exit interviewing. Since many students come to LIM College with significant retail experience, this course provides an opportunity for them to explore the nature of the fashion industry from a different angle. To qualify, students must provide evidence of their achievement in the retail sector by completing the required deliverables for the Industry Exploration Internship (paper and exit interview), as well as provide a written letter of recommendation from their most recent supervisor describing their duties and responsibilities. Students completing the Industry Exploration Portfolio course may participate in an internship, reverse mentoring, mock interviewing, or shadowing, as well as on-campus activities including guest lectures, seminars, symposia, or panel discussions. Specific activities required will be agreed upon between the instructor and student. The course culminates with a portfolio review and an oral exit examination.
