Attendance Policies

The attendance of graduate students in each individual class session is mandatory and students are expected to attend every session. The unique nature of graduate education, based on active learning, participation in class discussions, case studies, etc., makes attendance of paramount importance. For that reason, students are allowed only two excused absences. Missing more than two classes will have a negative impact on the student’s grade as follows:

Courses that meet on campus one time per week exclusively
An absence is defined as not showing up for the on-campus class. After the second absence a student’s final grade will be reduced by one letter grade.

Hybrid courses (one week the class is on campus and on alternate weeks the class is online)
An absence is defined as not showing up for the on-campus class, or for the online portion, not signing in and completing an assignment. After the second absence a student’s final grade will be reduced by one letter grade.

Online courses (no on-campus classes)
An absence is defined as not signing in and completing an assignment. After the second absence a student’s final grade will be reduced by one letter grade.

Lateness
Classes begin on time. Each late arrival or early departure will be considered half an absence.
