FASH 4962 - Retail Buying and Planning Senior Capstone

Fashion Merchandising
This course requires the integration of skills and knowledge acquired in previous Buying Track courses. Working in teams, students research and analyze financial, merchandising and competitive data from various retail organizations. Students will design a clear plan of action with references for a retail strategic plan for a specific retail corporation. Merchandising (product, assortment, pricing, promotion and distribution) and competitive strategies will be developed in a final business plan report and presentation. This course will encompass the analysis of all retail channels of distribution (mass market, off-price, department stores, store is the brand, fast fashion, luxury and non-apparel). Particular attention will be given to the financial performance metrics (sales, gross margin, turnover and inventory control) and standards used within the retailing industry, in order for students to “speak the business.”
