EMRK 3614 - Mobile App Development: Concept to Digital Reality

Marketing, Management & Finance
Previous Course Number: MRKT 370

The versatility of modern mobile devices offers unlimited potential for engaging consumers with original content. Through this hands-on course, students will learn the fundamental processes and tactics in developing digital tools for customer engagement. The primary intent of this course is to give students the opportunity to develop digital engagement tools conceptually and then carry those ideas through the development process, ending the semester with a functioning prototype of an Apple iOS mobile application and/or a functioning website. Students will: develop a concept for a mobile app and website; develop and conceptually test an analog model of their concepts; learn how to find, vet and secure a software developer; and work with a developer to create a technical specification. Then, working with a professional software developer, students will guide their project through the development process, becoming involved in quality assurance testing and ongoing customer feedback testing, leading to a working prototype of their application.
