ACOM 215 - News Reporting and Writing


This course teaches the basics of professional reporting and writing for print and electronic media. The course will help prepare students to work in communications, publications, public relations, and news media departments of companies. Class work will concentrate on generating story ideas, supporting them with research, interviews, on-the-scene observation, and writing drafts to submit to news organizations. Article content will focus on, but not be limited to, fashion and cultural events in New York City. The course also stresses the ethics of journalism and professional protocol for interacting with figures in business and the arts.

Prerequisite: Writing Essentials or successful placement into English Composition
