ACOM 111H - Honors English Composition

This honors-level course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to continue developing their reading, critical thinking, and writing skills, while they gain familiarity with artistic genres and learn to think analytically and write meaningfully about “texts.” “Text” is understood to mean any cultural or social artifact that can bear interpretation. Thematically, the course is designed to inspire and facilitate thought about the influence of the past upon the present, as that influence is reflected in a number of artistic media. To these two ends, students will read novels, a play, literary criticism, and poetry; will view and analyze several movies; and will attend a play.

3 credits

Prerequisite: Enrollment in the Honors Program
