ACOM 207 - Introduction to Queer Studies

This course challenges existing conceptualizations of sexuality, gender, and sexual identity.  Students are encouraged to examine the meaning, performance, and undermining of sexual identities as cultural and historical practices that change over time.  As an interdisciplinary course, it draws on essays, literature, theater, art, film, and music from diverse cultures that convey the representations of sexualized selves evident in the human community.

3 credits
