FASH 1210H - Honors Retailing

Fashion Merchandising
Previous Course Number: MNGT 102H

Honors retailing introduces students to the challenges those responsible for running a retail organization face and the management principles used for making accurate decisions in order to satisfy customer needs. The course will focus on the different, ever-changing channels in the retail environment, including brick and mortar, e-commerce, and multi-channel retailing, on a domestic and global scale. The text will be supplemented with relevant current events and case studies that stimulate critical thinking skills and add to the development of a highly interactive classroom environment. This course highlights examples of high-tech, global, growth companies that play a vital economic role in society. The course approaches the field of retailing as not just apparel-driven. It also involves the consumer packaged goods industry (e.g. Procter and Gamble), food (e.g. Campbell’s), banking (e.g. JP Morgan Chase), and insurance (e.g. Allstate). Retailing is presented as an exciting, challenging, and rewarding career.
