FASH 420 - Senior Capstone - Fashion Merchandising


The capstone project requires the application, analysis and synthesis of the fashion curriculum to create and analyze the assortment planning process in a fashion business. Students will follow standard industry processes including analysis of the consumer, product ideation, product development, global sourcing strategies, and costing among other key issues relevant to the fashion industry assortment planning process. Projects can be based on womenswear, menswear, children’s wear, accessories, as well as home fashions. Drawing upon your classroom experience, industry knowledge as well as your own work experience, you will collaborate on a group project to develop a sound assortment plan (including financials) for a new fashion line. Student teams will create a comprehensive paper covering the topics in the course outline. The final phase will require the students to make a formal presentation of the work that they have developed during the course of the semester.

Prerequisite: FASH 105-Fashion Fundamentals or FASH 105H-Honors Fashion Fundamentals, FASH 233-Applied Concepts in Fashion Merchandising, FASH 270-Textiles, FASH 290-CAD for Merchandising, FASH 315-Product Development, FASH 321-Web Product Data Management
