WORK 101 - Work Project I

The combination of knowledge learned in the retail course and this nine session career development course are applied in a five week practical retail position. Students gain a foundation to embark on a retail career that can be in store line, buying, product development, visual merchandising, or sales. Understanding the customer and actions on the selling floor are crucial in becoming a successful part of the retail industry. Students will participate in the Work Project I course to develop the skills needed to obtain an internship and succeed in their job. They will spend a total of 150 hours in a sales position in a retail store. Students will also develop a Work Project Report and make an oral presentation that demonstrates the ability to apply what was learned in class to their work experience.
