MRKT 310 - Licensing


Licensing is a growing business format that has applications in many diverse industries. This course will examine licensing regulations and methods of obtaining copyrights to protect various types of creative expression under U.S. and international copyright law. Students will become familiar with the process of getting permission to use intellectual property in fields such as text, artwork, fashion, and music. A review of the latest case law, copyright registration forms, and copyright regulations will be discussed, including an analysis of how to recognize works that are in the public domain. Special attention will be paid to the growing importance of the international arena of licensing as a method to enter a market.

Prerequisite: MRKT 103-Marketing or MRKT 103H-Honors Marketing
