MNGT 208 - Introduction to Business

This course is designed to expose students to a number of career options as they learn business terminology and gain insights into how modern organizations are managed in a dynamic business environment. Students hone their decision-making and problem-solving skills by analyzing case studies and current event articles, and by participating in small group discussions. They discuss how small and large businesses are organized, how business is regulated, the functions that managers perform, proper use of information, the value of effective marketing, and the importance of ethics and social responsibility as contributors to long-term profitability. Both domestic and global business strategies are covered and students gain an understanding of securities markets and investing through the use of an ongoing stock market simulation.
