Academic Dismissal

At the end of each fall and spring semester the records of all students are reviewed. A student placed on academic probation for two consecutive semesters must satisfy all the terms of probation by the end of the subsequent (third) semester. Any student who has not returned to good academic standing as described on the Satisfactory Academic Progress chart  is subject to dismissal from LIM College. In addition, certain Code of Conduct  violations may lead to academic dismissal.

If a student has been academically dismissed from the College as a result of losing good academic standing, the student may petition to return for a conditional probationary semester by submitting a written appeal to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. In the event the petition is accepted, the student may continue at LIM College on conditional probation pursuant to guidelines set forth in the petition acceptance agreement. These guidelines may include but are not limited to: limited course loads, mandated academic support services, achieving minimum GPA and earned credit requirements, and other restrictions as determined appropriate. To assist the student in focusing on her/his academic performance, participation in credited and non-credited internships as well as volunteer opportunities through the Department of Experiential Education & Career Management are restricted. At the end of one semester, depending upon academic performance, the student will either be permitted to continue at the College or be dismissed.
